I John 5:21

I John 5:21

A Final Word About Idolatry

Little children, keep yourselves from idols.

Pastor John’s Notes:

Idolatry is the worship of any created thing. We tend to think of idolatry as something from the ancient world where people would bow down to idols made of stone, clay, or metal. But in truth, we can make an idol out of anything we value, our home, job, or even another person. John’s last words caution us against anything that would hinder our progress with God.

Prayer:

Lord, show me if I have made an idol out of any created thing. Only you are worthy of the loyalty of my soul. Teach me to worship you and you alone.
