Are you struggling at this time of year, or grieving the loss of a loved one? Do you wish to celebrate Christmas in a quieter and more contemplative way this year? This service will include candle lighting in memory of loved ones, Advent wreath lighting, special harp music, and a contemplative message on the Christmas story. Led by Minister of Spiritual Care & Counseling Brenda Coffin.

LIVING WITH CANCER
Open to the community, this free, educational/spiritual/emotional support group delves into mind, body, spiritual and emotional aspects of facing and living with cancer. Designed for those in treatment or a supportive role as cancer caregiver\friend, and also cancer survivors, the group is led by cancer survivor and HUMC Minister of Spiritual Care & Counseling, Brenda Coffin.

These contemplative gatherings for women are open to groups of up to 12 participants. Sessions are steeped in listening, respect, confidentiality and hospitality, providing a process for participants to seek God’s presence, listen to His voice and discern what He is saying. The program is led by Brenda Coffin, HUMC’s Minister of Spiritual Care and Counseling. Brenda is also a formally trained and certified Spiritual Director who received her training from Kairos School of Spiritual Direction and Oasis Ministries.

CHRISTMAS EVE FOOD DRIVE
Place bags of canned or other non-perishable food items around the Christmas tree at any of our four Christmas Eve services. Donated items benefit the Hempfield Food Bank (Landisville), Council of Churches Food Bank, Columbia Food Bank, and also are used to supplement HUMC’s Food Pantry.

GriefShare is a support group providing a warm, caring environment for those experiencing the death of a spouse, child, family member or friend. The experience includes three parts: a video, support group and workbook study. Register by Jan. 28.

Volunteers from HUMC help to set up and staff the emergency winter shelter for women and women with children who are experiencing homelessness. Volunteers serve from 6:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. to check-in guests and from 9:30 p.m. – 8:30 a.m. to staff the shelter overnight.
