SHARE-A-CHRISTMAS

This is an opportunity for you to provide Christmas for someone in our community. By signing out an ornament from the Share-A-Christmas tree, our HUMC family provides gifts for local adult homes and families in surrounding communities.

QUIET CHRISTMAS

Are you struggling at this time of year, or grieving the loss of a loved one? Do you wish to celebrate Christmas in a quieter and more contemplative way this year? This service will include candle lighting in memory of loved ones, Advent wreath lighting, special harp music, and a contemplative message on the Christmas story. Led by Minister of Spiritual Care & Counseling Brenda Coffin.

STARTING POINT

Designed for those new to HUMC, Starting Point is a 30-minute program about our church, our leadership and our ministries. A building tour will be available. No registration required.

SONS & DAUGHTERS OF THE KING

If you are struggling with overload, worry, depression, addictions, anxiety, self esteem, fears, rejection and forgiveness, we invite you to our new ministry for emotional healing, soul restoration, prayer and finding your new identity in Christ. Men and women meet separately once a month. Open to the community.

LIVING WITH CANCER

Open to the community, this free, educational/spiritual/emotional support group delves into mind, body, spiritual and emotional aspects of facing and living with cancer. Designed for those in treatment or a supportive role as cancer caregiver\friend, and also cancer survivors, the group is led by cancer survivor and HUMC Minister of Spiritual Care & Counseling, Brenda Coffin.
WHEN: Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018; Jan. 9, Jan. 23, Feb. 6, 2019, noon – 1:15 p.m.

SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

These contemplative gatherings for women are open to groups of up to 12 participants. Sessions are steeped in listening, respect, confidentiality and hospitality, providing a process for participants to seek God’s presence, listen to His voice and discern what He is saying. The program is led by Brenda Coffin, HUMC’s Minister of Spiritual Care and Counseling. Brenda is also a formally trained and certified Spiritual Director who received her training from Kairos School of Spiritual Direction and Oasis Ministries.

CHRISTMAS CAROLING

Open to all ages. Join us as various caroling groups canvas different areas in the community.

WRAP-IT-UP EVENT

Those helped by HUMC’s Share-A-Christmas ministry are invited to come and wrap the gifts for their family members. Greeters, wrappers and nursery helpers are needed for this event.

CHRISTMAS EVE FOOD DRIVE

Place bags of canned or other non-perishable food items around the Christmas tree at any of our four Christmas Eve services. Donated items benefit the Hempfield Food Bank (Landisville), Council of Churches Food Bank, Columbia Food Bank, and also are used to supplement HUMC’s Food Pantry.


LIVING AS DISCIPLES OF CHRIST

Be discipled (shepherded on a personal level) by Pastor Keith Buckbee through bible study, prayer, service to others, discerning God’s leading. Register by Dec. 31. Limit 15 participants.

GRIEFSHARE

GriefShare is a support group providing a warm, caring environment for those experiencing the death of a spouse, child, family member or friend. The experience includes three parts: a video, support group and workbook study. Register by Jan. 28.

WINTER SHELTER

Volunteers from HUMC help to set up and staff the emergency winter shelter for women and women with children who are experiencing homelessness. Volunteers serve from 6:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. to check-in guests and from 9:30 p.m. – 8:30 a.m. to staff the shelter overnight.

MARRIAGE ENRICHMENT WORKSHOP: HIS NEEDS, HER NEEDS

This is a marriage workshop with a pizza dinner for men and women. We explore his needs and her needs within the marriage relationship. Limited class size; register by Feb. 21.

NOAH’S ARK PRESCHOOL DROP-IN OPEN HOUSE

On Jan. 17, 6:30 – 8 p.m., learn about Noah’s Ark Preschool programs and meet our teachers. Registration materials for the 2019/20 school year also will be available.
