Contemplative Retreat – Beyond Shame: Moving Toward Hope, Healing and Wholeness

HUMC Spirit Cafe, Lobby & Prayer Room
Saturday, June 18, 2022
8:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Join us for our annual contemplative retreat around the topic of shame, entitled, Beyond Shame…Moving Toward, Hope, Healing and Wholeness.

Discover how shame shapes us from the inside out and how it keeps us feeling stuck. Through Peg Marks, MSW, Health Educator and an Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Practitioner, you will learn about healing through self resilience and compassion and how the power of connection can help break through the power of shame. HUMC’s
Pastor Brenda Coffin, LCSW, will share what God says about the emotion of shame and its stronghold, and how when we place our hope in Christ we partner with him to restore our identity. HUMC’s Carmel Stabley, an Advanced-Certified Labyrinth Facilitator, along with Brian Hetsko and Chip Coffin on drums and percussion instruments, will lead the group through an experiential walking labyrinth practice to focus on resilience, compassion, healing and hope to anchor in the wholeness that God intended for each of us. Carmel’s extensive labyrinth practice has guided her in the Witnessing, Waiting and Walking with Others.
