Latest newsletter from The Wrights in NC.

Dear Friends and Family, We trust this finds you and your families well. As we draw closer to the end of 2020 (was that a sigh of relief we just heard?), we are sending our latest newsletter that includes an update on Keith’s ministry with Wycliffe’s Member Care Team this past year as well as an update on the small, Christian school where Debbi serves as the Office Manager. The main part of the newsletter is titled Change, planned and unplanned.…

Life for Children Update

Dear Friends at Hempfield UMC, Thank you so much for your generous support of $4,080 for Life for Children Ministry this past year. Even during the pandemic, we have been able to continue to provide family-based care for children, provide several homes for widows, complete the building of the school library and dormitory and provide Covid-19 protective supplies. The construction of homes for widows, student classrooms, the school library and dormitory has become even more important in the wake of…

Update From Jenny Groff

I’ve blinked – and it’s suddenly November! We’ve even had our first snow in New Haven! Through the ups and downs of this semester, I’m so proud of our team, student leaders, and interns for continuing to faithfully sacrifice for the glory of God. Jesus says that if we abide in Him, we will bear much fruit; apart from Him we can do nothing. With opportunities and ministry moments stripped down, we are learning to lean into God. It is…

Operation Christmas Child 2020

HUMC is once again encouraging you to participate in Operation Christmas Child. While there will be no lobby table set up or handouts available at HUMC this year, Samaritan’s Purse has lots of helpful information and many useful resources on its website to make it easy for you to participate in this beautiful ministry. Rather than build a shoe box, if you simply would prefer to give a donation of either $9 to cover the shipping cost or give a donation of…

Yale Students Desire Christian Community

Update from Jenny Groff, serving with Chi Alpha at Yale University as a missionary who receives financial support through HUMC August was a busy month! It has been a time of flexibility, creative planning, and thinking on our feet. Currently, some 75% of Yalies are living on campus (and quarantining in their dorm college). The rest are either taking classes at home or taking a leave of absence. It has been an adventure figuring out how to serve and reach…

Update from Keith and Debbie Wright (Wycliffe Bible Translators)

Greetings from North Carolina. We trust this finds you well Mission Network News recently ran a story, “Wycliffe USA supports missionaries during COVID-19 pandemic.” It gives a glimpse into some of the impact our missionaries have experienced with COVID-19 and how Wycliffe’s Member and Care Resources Team (MACR), the team Keith is a part of, has been these serving members over the past months. Currently, Keith is working with 3 families who returned to the US due to COVID-19. Two families from…

Update from Jenny Groff-Yale Missions

Whether you are a healthcare worker, parent, daughter or son, pastor, mentor, student, spouse or whatever other hat you wear – I can’t imagine what your reality has been these days as you have served your family, friends and those around you. Our God is El Roi – the God who sees. My prayer for you has been and continues to be that God’s presence would be so real to you. In the ebbs and flows of feelings, thoughts and…

Thank You from New Life for Children Ministries

This is a “thank you” email received earlier in the year from Michael Agwanda of Life for Children Ministries. Life for Children was the recipient of HUMC’s Christmas offering. Thank you for standing with us in constructing a much needed classroom in 2020. This is going to be the first classroom we will construct this year. We will use the $15,000 you provided judiciously for the construction of the classroom and all the stages of the building process will be…

An Update from Julie Campbell

There is little new in my ministry, which is no surprise. Life for Children Welfare closed on March 26. I’ve been at home since then, except for occasional trips to get money or have the car fixed. Only two calls came through from clients. They were minor problems and could be handled by phone. The terrible rains stopped.  It’s very dry now.  The horrific roads were “repaired” by putting soil on top, which is the usual way of fixing them.  After…

Update from Life for Children Ministry

This week’s Serve update is about Life for Children Ministry in Kenya, Africa. The children and the ministry need our prayers and support. COVID-19 EXPERIENCE IN KENYA Dear friends, As the world grapples with challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, one question is “how are developing countries dealing with it?” Are ministries, churches, missions, and missionaries still at work? Clearly, the answer is “YES!” Life for Children Ministry (LCM) continues its mission to serve the ‘least of the least’ in Kenya. Read about the current situation in Kenya, Life for Children Ministry’s needs and…
