Conduct yourselves honorably among the Gentiles, so that when they slander you as evildoers, they will observe your good works and will glorify God on the day he visits. (1 Peter 2:12)
Pastor John’s Notes:
The manner of our living is as important as the words that we speak. In fact, the way we live speaks louder than our words. People need to see the difference it makes in following Jesus, before they will commit themselves to investigate further, and they need to see a difference in the lives of Christians they know. It is all fine and good for eloquent preachers on television to excite people with their refined rhetoric, but the real substance of the Christian life is in the day-to-day actions of ordinary folk. The most effective witness takes place not in the church sanctuary, but at the office, in the classroom, and at the grocery store.
Lord, help me to realize that the manner of my living can have a profound impact on the people around me. Let the change you have made within my soul work its way into my words and actions. Help me to live a life that is honoring to you and a witness to others.
