Don’t Exasperate Your Children – Ephesians 6:4

Don’t Exasperate Your Children – Ephesians 6:4

Fathers, don’t stir up anger in your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. (Ephesians 6:4)

Reflection:

Parents should always be mindful of the mental and emotional limitations of their children. If parents push their children too hard, they will begin to resent it.  Therefore, parents should be diligent to model kindness and grace as they raise their children up to know the Lord.

Prayer:

Lord, help parents to be mindful of the limitations of their children. As you are a good Heavenly Father, help parents reflect your character as they raise their children up in the faith.

Life Application: Watch Your Tone!

Sometimes parents can forget the limitations of their children and treat them as though they were adults. But harsh words or cutting remarks can do great damage to a child, especially when they come from a parent. Loose words often have lasting impressions. So if you are a parent, take care as to the words you speak and the tone of your voice. It is always wise to err on the side of kindness and grace.
