God is our Creator – Psalm 139:13-16

God is our Creator – Psalm 139:13-16

For it was you who created my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will praise you because I have been remarkably and wondrously made. Your works are wondrous, and I know this very well. My bones were not hidden from you when I was made in secret, when I was formed in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all my days were written in your book and planned before a single one of them began. (Psalm 139:13-16)

Reflection:

After considering the eternal nature of God, the writer of this psalm now applies this knowledge to the creation of human beings. Every human being was made by God’s planning and activity. We are not merely biological accidents and we are more than merely the product of our parents’ love. God himself created both our bodies and our souls, and everything about us was planned even before we came into existence. Even the course of our lives was engineered by God. God is in every aspect of our living, from start to finish. There is great peace and joy when this truth takes root in our soul.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you for creating me and for designing my life. Open my mind to rejoice in you as my Creator and trust in the plans you have for me.

Life Application:

Here is how we can begin our worship of God each and every day: we can begin by acknowledging God as our Creator and take our joy in knowing that we are God’s child! God delights in our worship, and it is a joy to our souls when we realize and accept the beauty of this relationship. It is a great way to start the day. It is also a joy to walk with God throughout the day rejoicing in our identity as a child of God. So when you awake each morning, before your daily agenda hits you, set aside some time of worship to thank God that he made you and is your Creator. Let this one great truth permeate your soul.  Get this one thing straight at the beginning of your day and many things will fall into place.
