He was in the world, and the world was created through him, and yet the world did not recognize him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. (John 1:10-11)
Pastor John’s Notes:
Here is the greatest of all tragedies. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, has come to save the human race but was neither recognized nor received. Even God’s own people, the Israelites, to whom God had given numerous prophecies of the coming of the Messiah, refused to receive him. When we are lost in our sin we become spiritually blind, unable to see the activity of God right before our very eyes. Still, Jesus remained faithful to the Father’s plan and endured the cross alone for our redemption.
Lord Jesus Christ, you are truly the Father’s faithful servant. Although the world did not receive you, yet you remained faithful. Even when God’s own people rejected you, still you did not abandon God’s purpose. I offer you the gratitude of my whole heart for your love and faithfulness. Let all people come to know the salvation you have made possible.
