Immediately the Spirit drove him into the wilderness. He was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and the angels were serving him. (Mark 1:12-13)
Times of temptation and testing will always come to you. These are an unavoidable part of your development toward spiritual maturity. In fact, the Holy Spirit guided Jesus into the wilderness to face the temptations of Satan. In each of his victories over the temptations of the enemy, Jesus was enacting the spiritual principles of his ministry by which he would live and build his kingdom. When you face temptation or pass through times of testing and overcome, you will emerge as a new and different person. If you fail, it means there are things you must yet learn. After Jesus overcame, the angels began to serve him as their Lord and Captain. After you overcome, you will live a life of power and see the glory of God!
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, give me strength and wisdom to face the trials and temptations of this world and emerge victorious. Help me, even today, to watch over my life and to remain on the narrow path that leads to victory. Let me not fall prey to the temptations of my enemy but to remain constant and steadfast in my faith.
