The Enduring Word of God – 1 Peter 1:24-25

The Enduring Word of God – 1 Peter 1:24-25

For all flesh is like grass, and all its glory like a flower of the grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord endures forever. And this word is the gospel that was proclaimed to you. (1 Peter 1:24-25)

Pastor John’s Notes:

We are all beautiful to God because God has made each one of us, but all of us are fading away like flowers of the field unless God’s Word finds a place within us. The Word of God is eternal and unchangeable. When the Word of God dwells within us, God continues his creative work within, shaping us to be the people God intended. Through the Word, God repairs the damage sin has caused and puts a new heart within us. This is how our souls can rest God.

The Word of God is not far from us nor is it inaccessible. The gospel is the proclamation of what God has done through Jesus Christ. This gospel is more than a news item or doctrinal treatise; it is a living gospel that holds the creative power of God. When we hear the gospel and receive it joyfully, the Word of God begins its good work within us. Throughout our lives, we can feed spiritually on the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Lord God, thank you for your living Word, which is the gospel of Jesus Christ your Son. Let your living Word abide within me to become the source of my life. Let its enduring power overtake me, that I might live a life of power and joy in Jesus Christ.
