The Holy Spirit and Jesus – John 16:13-16

The Holy Spirit and Jesus – John 16:13-16

For he (the Holy Spirit) will not speak on his own, but he will speak whatever he hears. He will also declare to you what is to come. He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. Everything the Father has is mine. This is why I told you that he takes from what is mine and will declare it to you.

Pastor John’s Notes:

Many people think of the Holy Spirit as a mystical force whose personality is unknown. In truth, the Holy Spirit is Jesus himself. Everything the Spirit says comes to us directly from Christ, and everything Christ says comes from the Father. God is in Christ, and Christ is in us. The Holy Spirit makes this spiritual union possible.

Prayer:

Spirit of Christ, I welcome you. Thank you for taking up residence within me, to be a constant friend and guide. Teach me to no longer live by my own feeble wisdom and limited understanding, for I know that I will constantly go astray. But let me live by your power and presence so that I might grow into your likeness and serve those around me in love.
