Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. (Hebrews 13:15)
Every time God blesses us, we should offer a sacrifice of praise, which is a simple acknowledgment of God’s goodness. And because God is continually good, we always have reason to praise him. Words of praise should not only be between us and God, but also in our daily conversations with others. We should speak of God’s goodness freely and without hesitation. This daily praise honors God deeply and is the foundation of our personal witness.
Lord God, as you are continually good to me, so I offer up my continual praise to you.
The praise of God in our daily conversation is the foundation of our personal witness. Many Christians have the desire to bear witness to their faith, but quickly freeze up when the opportunity presents itself. But when we learn to talk of God’s goodness in smaller ways, giving him the glory for the good things he has done throughout the day, we unlock the door for other conversations. Our daily praise in lesser things broaches the subject and allows others to ask questions about matters of faith. This is what it means to “let our light shine” for others to see. So whenever God gives a blessing, or even when a time of trouble arises, offer God praise for his goodness and faithfulness. And then be prepared for an opportunity to witness that might follow.
