Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who prophesied about the grace that would come to you, searched and carefully investigated. They inquired into what time or what circumstances the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating when he testified in advance to the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you. These things have now been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—angels long to catch a glimpse of these things. (1 Peter 1:10-12)
Pastor John’s Notes:
The Bible presents a story of God’s unfolding plan of redemption. All of the ages of the past were leading up to this present day. Jesus is Lord and the kingdom God has now come. The message of the gospel has gone out into all the world. All that remains is for Christ to return. When we know this, it changes the way we look at the world and understand our own lives. The fact that we are living in the last days gives us hope. Jesus has promised that he will return soon. Think about that word, “Soon!” It is a wonderful word! Soon all of our struggles will be over, and we will be with our Lord forever.
Lord, set your hope within my heart, that I might live my life in great expectation of your return. Let this higher perspective keep me from becoming over-focused on the transitory troubles of daily living. Set me free from a life of worry and fear to one of peace and joyful anticipation.
