God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:24)
The woman at the well asked Jesus a question about where the true center of worship was, Jerusalem or Samaria? Jesus replied by saying that the time was at hand when the true worshipers would worship God neither in Jerusalem nor in Samaria.“God is spirit,” said Jesus, “and those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth. The true worship of God originates in the soul. The location and form of our worship are not so important.
Lord God, teach me to worship you in spirit and in truth.
While our corporate worship together as the body of Christ is essential, God values the worship of our soul, which we can offer to God any time and any place. If the only time we worship is when we are in church, our worship life is deficient. Every follower of Jesus Christ should spend some time each day in the worship of God. Worship is the glorification of God and acknowledgment of God‘s authority, power, and glory. But worship is also the adoration of God in which we express our love directly to our Creator. So spend some time alone today offering God your worship, and learn to do so every day. Your very body was made to be a temple for the Holy Spirit and a house of worship.
