Description:

Hempfield United Methodist Church is an established church located in Lancaster, PA with a clear vision: “To know Jesus and make Him known.” We are seeking a part-time (25 hrs/week) Middle School Youth Director to grow a highly motivational youth program so students in grades 7-8 are empowered to discipleship and service.

Qualifications:

• A genuine follower of Jesus who models the Christian life in word and deed.

• Ability to nurture positive relationships with youth and their parents or guardians.

• Affirms the doctrines of the Christian faith as expressed in The Apostles’ Creed.

• Proven ability to work with youth, pastors, staff, parents/caregivers, and congregational volunteers.

• Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills.

• Excellent computer skills: Able to use social media, on-line communication, and church software.

• Experience and comfort with virtual training/meetings.

• Experience and/or relevant degree or training in leading and teaching as a Youth Leader.

• Clearances and passing of required medical exam and background checks: PSP Criminal Record check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, FBI Fingerprint, Valid PA driver’s license.

• Musical ability a plus but not required.

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate weekly youth programs that creatively guide Middle School youth to deepen their faith.

• Facilitate and organize youth worship and small groups.

• Coordinate curriculum, programs, and events with the Senior High Youth Director and Associate Pastor.

• Recruit and work collaboratively with volunteers.

• Assist Pastors in teaching Confirmation classes.

• Coordinate local Mission trips. Occasional travel may be required.

• Educate the congregation about the hopes, concerns, and needs of youth in the local church and community.

• Oversee the approved budget, expenditures incurred, and sources for raising funds.

• Adhere to all church policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, safe sanctuary policies, attendance, punctuality, and professional appearance.

This position will report to the Associate Pastor.
