Joyce Young

“As Christians, God has given us a special mission. That mission is to love others just as God himself loves us. We become His voice, His hands, His feet and His heart to those who are suffering. Times of suffering call for the best we can bring in hope and in compassion. As a community of believers, we are empowered to offer God’s comfort to all who need it. As we model the life of Christ in ministry to others, we become Christ to hurting people.”   – Joyce Young

Joyce Young has been the Director of Care at Hempfield UMC since February of 2015. In 2020 she became the Minister of Visitation, too. Having retired from a career in education to answer God’s call to service, she participated in the Clinical Pastoral Education program at Hershey Medical Center from September 2014 to May 2015. This training equipped Joyce for the roles she has here at HUMC. She has a heart for people who are struggling and seeking the Lord. She enjoys learning and growing and engaging others in that process. She actively equips others for service and effectively builds partnerships within our community of believers to build strong teams who engage in Care Ministry with her. Joyce and her husband, Frank, have been members of HUMC since 1985 and have served in numerous leadership roles. They are the parents of two married daughters and the grandparents of four.
